What I got for Christmas 2013

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas (I know I did) and to keep you in the festive spirit for as long as possible I wanted to show you what I got for Christmas :) But before I do I just want to say this post is not meant for me to brag about what I got because I would never do something like that,  I just thought some of you might find it interesting as I personally like reading these kind of blog posts and YouTube videos. Anyways, here's what Father Christmas got me this year...

My Chrsitmas Nails

So today is the day, well not the day but it's Christmas eve and that's almost as good. Today I'm showing you how I have painted my nails for Christmas; it's a holy and pin striped design. But I must say I saw someone else blog about this design so I am not taking credit for it, I just wanted to show you guys in case you haven't seen it.

First of all I started off with a coat of plain white nail varnish, and then applied a second coat to make sure I have a plain and thick base. Then using my asagdg Gold stripper I do vertical stripes on all of my nails. Then I created the holly by dotting on two dots of red in the corner using my nail dotting tools. As I don't own a green nail varnish I mixed a yellow and blue to create a suitable green colour, then dotted this on for the leaves. After applying a clear top coat to seal in your design and make it shiny - you're done

Winter Make up routine

So to start off with I Use the no 17 concealer in fair to conceal the vast amount of spots on my face, this works in combination with my face make up really well to make my imperfections less visible. Bringing me onto my Mac Studio tinted moisturiser in Light - I don't tend to wear actual foundation often as this works really well for me; creating a smooth and matte base on my face. Then most of the time I go in with a bit more concealer to make sure my spots aren't showing as much. Then for my cheeks, I don't usually wear blush but I recently found this one by Sleek which I really love for the winter called Pomegranate (923), a dark cranberry colour perfect for the festive season. Because the pigmentation of this blush is so powerful I apply my Natural Collection pressed powder in Warm on top of it of it so that the colour is a bit more natural and less.. theatrical.

At this point I then prep my lips firstly with the Popcorn lush lip scrub to exfoliate and then my Nivea lip butter in raspberry  to let the moisturiser sink in before I apply my main lip colour. 
Then for my eyeshadow I like to keep it simple by using this really great Rimmel quad in Smokey brun -  I start off with this champagne/light bronze colour (1) all over my eyelid acting as a base, next the lighter white shimmery colour (2) on my inner corner; I like putting the lightest colour on the inner corner of my eye because it brightens up the look rather than it just looking like you've thrown lots of darker colours all over your eyelid. Then to finish off with the bronze colour on the outer third of my eyelid and a little bit in the crease

Lastly for mascara I use Benefit's They're Real on top and bottom. For lips I change it up everyday depending on what i'm doing, today I was going christmas shopping with some friends so I decided to go with My Mac Hug me and then my Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, both of which featured in my Top 6 Autumn Lip Colours.

I'm planning to cram in another post before Christmas but just in case I don't I hope you have a fantastic Christmas everyone!

Snowman Lush bathbomb

The lead up to Christmas means only one thing - the Lush Christmas products! Here I thought I'd tell you about this little gem. The Snowman Bath Ballistic.

"Snowman is back with a jolly red scarf and a nose made out of The Carrot bubble bar from last Easter. He also contains cocoa butter which creates a moisturising, creamy soft bath that is great for nourishing and protecting your skin." - see here

The smell: I really liked this smell as to me it's a nice festive scent - it is supposed to be similar to the butterball bath bomb (which has been on my to buy list for a while now). It is a really nice soothing coco butter and vanilla scent which personally I love.

What happened: So as usual with a bath ballistic the snowman fizzed about producing a stream of red from his scarf which continued throughout eventually turning the whole water a slightly faded red colour which I thought was really festive and magical! Although to other bath ballistics I've tried this one didn't last for long - it isn't much smaller than any of the others which is a little disappointing. But the initial fizzing sure was good fun as you can see below

 

  The aftermath: When I got in the bath I felt that this really made my skin so smooth and moisturised, more than I ever thought a bath bomb could. and sooner or later my skin was coated in some kind of substance that made my skin feel amazing - I didn't need to use a body moisturiser afterwards. If you have sensitive or dry skin then this is definitely one you should try out.

Sorry this post took a bit longer for me to finish than expected; I've been having a lot of exams recently :/

The Christmas tag ❅

1.  Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?

All of my life I've always had a synthetic tree which is bearable but I think real ones would just be so much fun - like having a real tree is the dream.

 

2.  You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?

Well I'm not a tea or coffee drinker so definitely some kind of hot chocolate which I loveee. I'm perfectly happy with just a plain one but if I was feeling fancy I would go for a salted caramel hot chocolate from starbucks which is lovely. But even better than that is the Black forest hot chocolate, my favourite festive drink; it's hot chocolate with blackberry syrup topped with cream, cherry sauce and chocolate curls. Mmmmmm.

3.  Whats your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?

In my house we don't usually have a colour scheme so it ends up being a spontaneous explosion of christmas, which is how it's always been so that's what I like. But I love using gold colours for the tree decorations because I think gold and green go together well and are really festive.

4.  Giving or receiving?
I think the whole system of exchanging gifts with friends and family at Christmas is so much fun. I love the run up to Christmas to frantically search for gifts they would like (I'm still in this phase... oops.) But let's not forget how much fun it is to receive presents - we all like to be spoilt once in a while.
 

5.  To mince pie or not to?
I'll have a few mince pies over the festive season, just because they are Christmassy but I'm not overly keen on them to be honest. As a big traditional Christmas lover I feel obliged to have a few.

 

6.  What's your traditional Sunday lunch?
On normal Sundays (not Christmas lunch) we usually have roast chicken sometimes wrapped in bacon which tastes really nice, broccoli, green beans and roast potatoes, topped off with lots of gravy... mouth watering.
 

7.  Christmas day fashion
If  I stayed at home on Christmas da you would defiantly find me in some very festive pyjamas or my onesie. But usually we go to my aunties house which is only down the road so I always wear my Christmas jumper and some comfortable jeans or leggings.

8.  What's your favourite Christmas song?
I'm sorry but this question is impossible for me to answer - I pretty much love all Christmas songs whether it be modern songs or traditional carols. Off the top of my head I could name; Sussex carol, Wish it could be Christmas everyday, Believe and Hot chocolate from Polar express aaaand Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

 

9.  What's your favourite Christmas film?
For me it's got to be Polar express; the story is great, the graphics are great, the songs are fantastic it'll always be number one for me. But this only just beats the home alone series, probably only the first two films with Macaulay Culkin as Kevin - he is the best.

 

10.  Open presents before or after lunch?

Most defiantly before lunch, it's torture to have to wait until after breakfast let alone lunch, which is what my family do.

Dragon's egg Bath Ballistic | Lush

Today I'm very excited to say that this is my first ever Lush bath product and I thought I would do you guys a little review!

How amazing is the packaging? I love it.

This is Dragon's egg which is a bath ballistic, if you don't know what a bath ballistic is it's basically a normal bath bomb which fizzes and bubbles up to create magic in your bath basically. Each bath bomb at Lush is so different and unique which is fantastic because you never really know what you're going to get ... until you get it. 

"Like an everlasting gobstopper, this ballistic keeps on revealing layer upon layer of surprises. It gives up its gifts in an unfolding drama, leaving you in a bath of molten gold. Along the way you will experience a firework display of colour, a fiery crackle of popping candy, a swirling landscape of creamy foam and a drift of paper dragon scales"

The smell:

 The first thing that came to mind when I smelt this was the sweet refreshers; probably from the Lemon oil and Jasmine absolute. I didn't notice the lemon scent at first but thinking about it now, it was more of a refresher smell which is kinda lemony. I think this is a great combination of scents to create a really nice aroma. Also, I was very surprised at how powerful the smell was, I only expected something faint but this definitely made the bathroom honk (in a good way).

What happened: 

Upon entering the water this started to fizz and produced a milky foam shown in the picture. This then slowly spread to cover the surface of the bath water. After the bath bomb had shrunk some more I suddenly noticed a stream of bright orange bubbles coming out of the ball. This was really cool because actual bubbles were produced compared to the initial fizzing of white - but I didn't see any glitter and the Lush website describes it as gold but all I got was orange. I was too bothered to this because the orange looked great as well.

The after math: 

This bath ballistic left my bath an amazing shade of orange. I was amazed. The picture shows it to be more yellowy but it was actually a darker orange. But it didn't end here - after I let the bath water out it left an unseen orange glitter on the bottom of the bath which I tried to capture on camera, don't really know if you can see that. And then to my mothers delight it very easily washed off without staining the bath at all! All I did was just turn the shower on and rinse it off - easy peasy lemon squeezy.
